Description
LaGasseSweet, an $800 million subsidiary of United Stationers, Inc. and industry leading wholesale distributor of janitorial, sanitation, food service, safety, industrial and paper disposable supplies, has a challenging opportunity for a Applications Developer I. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of custom applications in support of the Lagasse business, including Progress and SQL-Server programming.

Specific Responsibilities include:

Provides user community with data extracts from the Trend ERP system as required, and assists with the creation of front-end tools within Trend. Will help marketing with minor web page updates and improvements

Role is tasked with creating front-end tools and applications as specified by the Application Development manager.

Works with senior elements of the IT department in ascertaining end-user requirements and in determining the most efficient solutions.

Provides input for project planning and implementation scheduling, and provides timely updates to management with regard to project progress.

Maintains documentation for code revisions and for new applications.

Produces Windows and web based business tools that provide the end-user with enhanced visibility into the company’s performance. Limited responsibility for Progress and SQL-Server database administration and tuning.

Interfaces with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as occasional communication with vendors and customers.

Data extraction / ad hoc reporting from Trend system based upon end-user requests.

Development of Windows-based GUI interfaces for enhanced business intelligence and data warehouse access.

Creation of software modifications for Trend ERP system, including limited programming of menu screens and GUI interfaces.

Develop html documents and maintain content for marketing

Documentation of the systems including SOX compliance documents.

Testing of all applications in the Lagasse organization

Assistance with java web / e-commerce development.


Specific Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS or Engineering

Some knowledge of all areas of current business technologies, including desktop applications, PCs, and networking concepts.

Substantial knowledge of application development tools and compilers.

Some exposure to UNIX administration and/or database administration.

Understanding of Microsoft Windows 98, 2000, and XP operating systems.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Ability to deliver results in a fast paced environment

Advanced understanding of relational databases

Excellent quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to evaluate data objectively

Must be self motivated with ability to work independently

Possess strong technical skills

Good team player

Interpersonal skills, listen to needs of management and provide clear and meaningful conclusionsdf-tc
