Description
Under direction of Corporate Marketing and Project Management, design, develop and test a variety of structural packaging for consumer electronics retail market to achieve CSP (Cost, Schedule and Performance) per Client standards and project plan. Specific Develop packaging structures using a variety of materials including paper board, corrugated material, thermoform plastics, blister pack, etc . Evaluate structural package designs for cost effectiveness, considering material options, global sourcing, manufacturability, handling cost, pallet and container utilization, etc. Constantly abreast of new and emerging technologies in packaging materials, treatments & processes. Offer creative solutions for innovative designs through use of state-of-the-art materials, processes, construction, etc Sustain current package designs for improvements in quality, cost, transport and handling efficiency. Direct 3rd party & Client internal design resources in development of new package designs and tooling. Perform necessary tests on new package designs to ensure compliance with Client qualification criteria. Provide required written test results. Contribute to the evolution of Client packaging design and qualification procedures to suit retail supply chain environment Develop, manage and sustain documentation of new package designs to ensure high level accuracy and consistency in fabrication of parts. Ability to design and document complex retail packaging systems made from paper boards, corrugates and plastics. Thorough knowledge of a variety of packaging materials including paper boards, corrugate, plastics Thorough knowledge of packaging assembly process include manual assembly, blister pack heat, RF and other methods of sealing/tamper proofing retail packages. Ability to develop and document qualification and inspection protocol for packaging materials and systems. Knowledge of costs associated with different materials used in package design Knowledge of freight methods used for distribution of retail products General knowledge of graphic printing , associated equipment and materials (inks, coatings, etc) Good working knowledge of thermoform tools and forming equipment.
