Senior Web Developer

Summary/Basic Function of the job

This role is designed for an experienced Web developer who enjoys meeting aggressive deadlines and is eager to learn cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the continuing success of company These solutions include specific customer sites (e-commerce, intranet/extranet portals), and industry specific reference solutions. Is proficient in the following languages/technologies: HTML, FLASH, DHTML, ASP, XML, XSLT, Javascript. Participates in design walkthroughs. Prepares complete and accurate estimates for statements of work. Must have strong communication and presentation skills.


Essential or Primary Duties of the job

Design and build high-quality web applications.

Perform ongoing maintenance of web applications in multiple release streams

Understand and follow common solution development methodologies

Experience with all phases of application development lifecycle including analysis, design, build, deployment, and maintenance

Adhere to standards and procedures
Understand and adhere to software engineering best practices, including source code control including versioning and releases. Infuse Development with software development best practices by example
Understand, adhere to, and suggest improvements to Development department standards and procedures.
Accurately estimate effort and duration of development tasks
Develop and perform unit and integration tests
Proactively identify issues and recommend solutions
Document use cases/test cases. Gather and document user requirements as necessary. Ability to prototype to gather requirements and perform proofs of concept and demos
Create technical specifications documentation from functional specifications/requirements
Provide cross-functional support to analyze and resolve key technical issues
Review test plans with Quality Assurance and participate in design and code reviews with other developers
Participate in recommending new technologies and next generation features
Experience with enterprise production environments, including understanding operational support issues
Plan work in the context of the project team, considering department and company business
Perform technical consulting for peers and other departments
Ability to interact with client on technical issues
Support management
Ability to interact effectively with production support and call center, including triage of service requests, gathering new requirements/ideas, and consulting
Understand and comply with the QA process.
Support and mentor peers
May lead/manage small to medium-sized development projects
Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and individually
Participate in meetings, onsite and offsite, client and internal.
Strong understanding of n-tier enterprise applications

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent experience
3-5+ years experience in software development of web applications
Strong working experience in the following technologies: ASP, XML, XSLT, SQL, Web Services, HTML, XHTML, DHTML, IIS 5+, COM/COM+, VBScript, CSS, and Javascript
Strong understanding of project lifecycles, software development environments, and source control techniques
Excellent analytic and problem solving skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet critical project deadlines
Experience as a lead developer
Development experience with Flash, J2EE/Java, C#, ASP.NET, T-SQL a plus
Experience in the use of SQLServer or Oracle databases and stored procedures a plus
Ability to configure, administer and manage SQLServer databases a plus
Experience in object oriented practices a plus
Experience with an iterative development methodology a plus
Experience with enterprise content management system implementations a plus
Experience with load and unit testing software a plus
Experience with UML and use cases a plus
