Chief Software Developer

Our client is a cutting edge software corporation; its business strategy involves building strong relationships with Market Research clients and companies with Market Research departments, who benefit from a high value global software platform. The Chief Developer will lead, build and design the software team in the USA, while practicing the SCRUM methodology.

The Chief Developer specifies technology platforms and solutions; and works closely with the local Managing Director on product specification.  Based in Atlanta, USA, this position will report directly to the CTO in Sweden.

RESPONSIBILITIES:        

Provide comprehensive management and direction to multiple software engineering groups. This includes providing specific guidance, assistance, recommendation and direction on all aspects of software engineering.

Work closely with the main office in Stockholm.

Set realistic goals, without over promising final deadlines.

Continuously assess whether to internally develop or outsource technology solutions to meet business needs.

Recommend and implement new solutions based on ROI to the organization (increased revenue, cost containment, security risk reduction, and management control). Give leadership in the design, definition, planning and deployment of technology infrastructure and architecture, and implement appropriate enhancements as needed.

Establish, enforce, review and improve IT policy and procedures.

In charge of support to external clients and vendors in the form of overall project management, project proposals, technical knowledge and expertise.

Provide career development consulting and ensure training plans are developed for all staff within the respective software engineering departments.

A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Computer Science or related area is required. 

EXPERIENCE:                   

Excellent knowledge of agile object oriented software development, preferably in Microsoft environment.

Documented experience working with scrum; been part of a scrum team

Great knowledge of eXtreme Programming

Documented experience working with Test Driven Development (TDD) and pair programming.

5+ years leadership experience, managing multiple complex software development projects, and several concurrent projects in a multi-platform systems development environment, or equivalent internal experience.

Strong comprehension of object oriented languages.

Expert understanding of systems development methods and new technologies.

The ability to ensure good architecture practices are implemented as software is developed. Effectively manage the scope and delivery of a large volume of projects (with high impact) on time and within budget.
