Job Title: DB2 Database Administrator

Dept Name: Information Systems


POSITION SCOPE

The DB2 Database Administrator is responsible for independently leading the implementation and maintenance of high priority and complex enterprise databases as well as coordinating and leading the definition of database back-up/recovery and security strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitors table space growth and resizing

Performs performance tuning

Monitors the diagnostic log

Manages the back-up process

Provides on-call support for databases (24/7) to include investigating, troubleshooting and resolving database problems

Installs DB2 software on AIX and UNIX platforms


EDUCATION =E2=80=93 SKILLS =E2=80=93 EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field

2+ years related database administration experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in both production and development environments

Experience with DB2 including installing software, performing and automating version upgrades and patch installs

Experience automating tasks in an AIX and/or Windows environment

Knowledge of database back-up/restore methodologies

Experience troubleshooting performance and networking issues

Exceptional performance tuning experience

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a high-pressure, demanding environmentdf-tc
