Description
The overall purpose of the Desktop/Systems Support Specialist is to provide internal desktop and user support, monitor our infrastructure, and assist Systems Engineers with various IT Operations projects and tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong desktop/user support and analytical troubleshooting experience, with network and Windows server administration experience as well.Required Duties: Provide support to internal end users Identify, research, and resolve various technical issues Monitor infrastructure and appropriately respond to system events Determine severity and impact of system outages and incidents Analyze and document system outages and incidents Prioritize, resolve, and document resolution of internal help desk tickets Maintain IT PC/Application support standards, policies, and procedures Provide IT maintenance (patch management, security updates, upgrades, etc.) Complete IT projects and tasks as assigned Provide support for other areas of IT Operations as neededRequired Skills, Experience, and Education: A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a related field and at least three (3) or more years desktop support and IT Operations experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient knowledge and experience in installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting hardware and software applications in a LAN/WAN environment Proficient understanding of Windows XP clients in a domain environment Must be familiar with general troubleshooting of Hewlett-Packard PC and laptop hardware Proficient knowledge of server administration tools such Active Directory – Users and Computers Must have general knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server and Outlook Client administrationPreferred Certifications and Experience: CompTIA A+ CompTIA Network+ MCP/MCSA Experience supporting: • Microsoft Windows Server 2003• Microsoft Windows 2003 Active Directory• Microsoft Exchange Server 2003• Microsoft SQL Server 2005Required Soft Skills: Self-motivation and drive Strong analytical troubleshooting skills Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Excellent customer service skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Sense of urgency for incident resolution Good work ethic and attendance
