Description

Loyola Marymount University is seeking a Director of Decision Support.  Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, this new position will oversee the development and administration of a campus-wide decision support environment.

 

Loyola Marymount University shares in a rich intellectual heritage fostered by the Jesuit and Marymount educational traditions and founded on social justice and ethical values.  This year Loyola Marymount University was named a “Treasure of Los Angeles!”  Our main 150 acre campus is located in West Los Angeles and supports 7 colleges/schools and is the site of the William H. Hannon Library (under construction).  Enrollment includes 5,746 undergraduate and 1,899 graduate students and we employ more than 2,200 faculty and staff.   Loyola Marymount University cherishes its Catholic identity while at the same time welcoming people from diverse social, religious, and cultural backgrounds.  The office of Institutional Effectiveness integrates the university’s assessment and institutional research functions to create a culture of evidence and continuous improvement.   • Experienced managers - experience in leading staff of reporting specialists and research analysts, ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and diverse groups; demonstrated success working collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff. 

 

  • Expert – demonstrate competency developing vision, priorities, and policies for the decision support environment.

 

  • Communicators – exemplary verbal and written skills and ability to build relationships that will foster respect, trust and confidence.

 

Typically a Bachelor’s degree in information systems, educational technology, computer science, or related field. Masters/Advanced degree preferred.  Minimum 5 years experience working with information management systems or relational databases, as well as conducting research or data analyses, in an institution of higher learning or other similar setting.  Familiarity with data warehousing principles; knowledge of information technology systems or applications; ability to analyze data requirements; familiarity with the academic enterprise within a university; some knowledge of key issues and concepts in higher education.  Demonstrated ability to use business intelligence or query tool software; understanding of data structures; ability to use programming techniques to extract data for database development.  Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by the preparation of comprehensive research reports and executive summaries that present complex or technical information in an easily understood fashion.  Some teaching or training experience a plus.    Ability to prioritize and manage multiple and varied projects and initiatives.
