Description
This role, which the client is referring to as a Distributed Storage Performance Analyst, will consist of configuration, layout and performance tuning of storage infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:
Proficient with EMC array configuration tools and software including ECC and Work Load Analyzer and Server utilities such as SAR and Performance Monitor. Using these tools as well as the performance data obtained from application and servers draw conclusions as how to optimize performance of applications.

Actively works to educate others on potential problems and resolutions. Responsible for sharing information and best practices with others. May be required to support and instruct less experienced co-workers, through classroom training sessions or on-the-job mentoring.

Broad cross-functional knowledge of information technology from an application, database, server, networking and operating systems perspective.

Assists in deployment of storage infrastructure based on strategies, policies, and procedures developed by Lead Architect with stable overall performance of the environment as the goal.

Design and planning of projects in support of day to day production requirements as well as disaster recovery initiatives and serve as mentor for other members of the team.

Research new technologies and make recommendations to deploy or integrate where appropriate.

Detailed understanding of EMC array configuration or equivalent OEM and ability to assess array performance and layout in a Raid 5 or Raid 1 environment as it pertains too specific customer requirements.

Understanding of many Operating System platforms including Win2K, AIX, HPUX, Sun Solaris and SUSE Linux and how each performs in a SAN environment

Work with Architect to develop storage strategies in support of key corporate goals. Insure that storage infrastructure is robust, reliable, and provides solid platform for applications.

Minimum 7 to 10 years experience in all types of storage technologies including SAN, EMC, HDS, StorageTEK, McDATA, Centera, Clariion and Cisco SAN Switches.

Strong telecommunication technical background and experience.

Ability to manage large projects.

Solid PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL.

Self motivated and requires little day to day supervision.
