Position Description:




The ideal candidates will be a Systimax certified, a member of Building Industry Consulting Service International, and a current Registered Communications Distribution Designer.

This position reports directly to the Network Services Manager of Enterprise Telephony Engineering and Operations. The Lead Infrastructure Cable Engineers main focus is on developing and overseeing the designs of the Senior Engineers for IT Cable Plants/Premise Based Distribution Systems, TERs, TRs, and UPS and DC Backup Power requirements to support the Voice, Data and Video communications needs of end client.



Job Responsibilities:

Provide guidance to ICE staff on design specifications and regulatory criteria for IT Cable Plants/Premise Based Distribution Systems, TERs, TRs, and UPS and DC Backup Power requirements. Provide oversight and technical guidance to Project Managers to develop, issue and analyze RFIs, RFQs and RFPs for assigned projects. Provide expert technical/consultative recommendations for updates and enhancements for recognized industry standards, best practices, and NFS Division 18 policy standards.

Assist with leadership and collaboration with NS Planning, Data as well as local voice and data personnel within the Service Area?s / Regions to develop, implement, and prioritize horizontal cabling plans that will meet both KPIT cabling standards and facility requirements.

Provide guidelines, process and templates to perform surveys of existing horizontal cable plants and document all information.

Work with NFS project managers and Construction Services project managers to recommend and approve design changes to meet space requirements and support structure for premise cabling.

Assist Project Managers in the management of their daily activities of vendors on an as needed basis.

Validate processes for Performing Quality Assurance checks of cabling projects at various intervals and at the completion of each project. Provide written feedback to the facility, vendor and project teams.

Lead efforts in updates to Processes, Procedures and Guidelines (PP&Gs) and standards, including quality controls that enable ENS and its vendors to provide consistent and reliable cable infrastructures across the enterprise and adherence to the PP&Gs and standards.

Develop methodology to support cable management and its documentation.



















Skills/Experience:



Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline is preferred.

A minimum of 10 years IT experience, including a comprehensive, technical knowledge of telecommunications theory (voice/data), engineering practices, technologies, standards and the National Electrical Code.

A minimum of 5 years in designing and engineering of Premise Based Cable Distribution Systems (copper and fiber), TERs, TRs (IT Equipment Rooms), and UPS and DC Backup Power requirements. RCDD and BISCI certifications required.

Knowledge of TIA/EIA cabling standards, all current technical bulletins and familiarity with medical center operations, cultures.


The successful candidate will have a high degree of verbal and written communications skills, with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills enabling the individual to communicate technical information in understandable business terms, work well with outside vendors and develop relationships with professional organizations, peer groups, and industry trade groups.
