You will work on-site at Phoenix International's New Product Introduction Center, which is nestled in North Dakota State University's Research and Technology Park in Fargo. The Position



Phoenix International is looking for anElectronic Design Engineer - Power Electronics. We will consider candidates with a range of mid career to senior level experience. As an Electronic Design Engineer of Power Electronics, you will develop new embedded controls and power electronics within a team environment. In this position, you will also:

Design new products and/or develop existing products that meet customer required features and functions, have minimum labor and material costs, and meet established reliability and quality requirements.
Work closely with other project team members, to ensure the final combined product has compatible software, electronic hardware, and mechanical hardware which functions properly together and performs at levels specified.
Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Quality Assurance on Cross-Functional Teams, as needed, to optimize designs for cost, quality, and manufacturability.
Work with other engineering personnel to establish design parameters and ensure electronic designs comply with Design Validation Specifications and Product Specifications.
Maintain design documentation for each design in a neat and organized fashion for review by other engineering personnel.
Review the design calculations of others to ensure proper application of design techniques.
Plan, coordinate, perform product design, testing and/or analysis work.
Participate or lead in the resolution of production technical issues. Work with Manufacturing Engineering and outside suppliers as needed to identify and rectify manufacturing, component or assembly problems.
Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate results.
Travel on a limited basis.



Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power electronics is desired.
Required Skills & Experience

Knowledge and exposure to hardware design.
5+ years of commercial design experience in an Engineering field related to power electronics and/or electric machines.
Experience in power electronics design for motor controls.
Desired Skills and Experience

Significant experience in the design of embedded controls and power electronics.
Significant experience and knowledge of testing, manufacturing, quality control and marketing requirements.
Experience with engineering tools (i.e. electronic simulation), systems and databases.
Experience with power electronics for a variety of DC voltage levels (up to 1000 Vdc) and power levels (up to 50 kW).
System knowledge of hybrid vehicles.
Experience in power electronics design for DC-DC converters.df-tc
