Description
This position is responsible for performing short and long term Systems and Network Element (NE) engineering within the Government Solutions Hawaii Network Management System (NMS) pertaining to Network Management (NM) equipment. This position is a primary engineering support to the Government Solutions Hawaii and vendor personnel. . Job duties include, but are not exclusive to:
? Designs and implements LANs/WANs using appropriate topologies (Ethernet, Fast-Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, V.35, RS-232, X.25, etc.), hardware (Bridges, Switches, Routers, Hubs, Repeaters, CSU/DSU, multiplexers, etc.), data links (HDLC, SDLC, LAPB, Frame Relay, PPP, etc.), and Network Operating Systems (Windows, UNIX, etc.).
? Performs network and systems administration, protocol analysis, and troubleshooting.
? Ensures networks are designed and implemented in accordance with relevant specifications.
? Performs analysis of NE NM related equipment and solutions for integration into the NMS.
? Submits ?as-built? drawings, but does not perform CAD level drawings.
The IT Engineer is a core function within the NMS. The position is responsible for:
? Oversight of the NMS architecture.
? Oversight of the NMS IP architecture.
? Oversight of the applications administration
? Recommendations for NMS technology refresh.
? User training as it pertains to Contract and NMS
? Supporting both Operations and Engineering Departments, under the guidance of the ITG Engineering Manager.

? Engineering oversight of the NMS architecture.
? Perform network analysis and provide technical upgrade solutions.
? Researches and evaluates network technologies and COTS products.
? Create & Verify technical designs to ensure cost effectiveness.
? Create diagrams of the NMS network, and maintain ?red line? updates of NMS documentation.
? Support User Training
? Support marketing and proposal efforts.df-tc
