Position Description:




The ideal candidate will act as an internal consultant on information architecture for application development projects. Responsibilities will include: Lead or participate in the development and management of Information Architectures that meet requirements for Business Intelligence (BI) solutions; work closely with database administrators, ETL and report writer staff to use the data model throughout the whole life-cycle (e.g., generate DDL, prepare and assist in the load of data models for BI tools, second-level support for performance tuning etc.). Perform data analysis and modeling for development and maintenance projects. Participate in the development of standards and procedures affecting Information Management. Assist in the development of task lists, project plans, and workload estimates. Participate in walk-troughs of work products such as data models, implementation architecture, documentation, etc. Perform impact analysis for requested changes or additions to data structures. Consult with end-users and applications development staff to ensure conformance or recommend updates to established architectures. Work both independently and collaboratively within one or more project teams. Follow established departmental standards, procedures and guidelines.



Skills/Experience:



·


Extensive data warehousing/business intelligence development and architecture experience

·


Extensive experience deploying and supporting large, complex data warehouse/business intelligence solutions (full life cycle)

·


Extensive experience designing relational (conceptual, logical, physical) and dimensional data models for data warehouse/business intelligence

·


Extensive experience integrating disparate systems into conformed dimensions

·


Strong hands-on ERwin data modeling tool experience

·


Strong experience working with a range of RDBMS (Oracle, Teradata, DB2, etc)
Strong experience with SQL query and RDBMS tuning

·


Strong experience working with UNIX (AIX, etc)

·


Good understanding of data integration tools (Informatica, etc)

·


Good understanding of metadata repository tools

·


Good understanding of reporting tools (business Objects, Cognos, etc)

·


Bachelors degree with emphasis in computer science

·


A minimum of 7 years in a large-scale development environment, or 2 years experience in Kaiser Permanente lead level Data Management family.

·


Experience with relational database management systems and with multiple programming languages and tools.

·


Strong understanding of data analysis, data and process modeling and relational database concepts.

·


Experience with structured methodologies, e.g., Information Engineering.

·


Experience with at least one major CASE or modeling tool, e.g., IEF/Composer/Cool:Gen, ADW, ErWin, Rational Rose, etc.

·


Experience training/developing other Information Architects.

·


Health Care industry experience is strongly preferred.

·


Experience in the Kaiser Permanente development environment, and in client/server development and distributed databases is preferred.

·


Experience with object-oriented analysis and design techniques is a plus.
