Position Description:




The ideal candidate will have strong analytical ability, strong judgment and problem analysis techniques, an in-depth knowledge of database administration, along with a broad knowledge of diverse data administration methodologies, database technologies, tools, and alternatives. The candidate will be
senior-level Database Administrator with deep experience in both UDB and SQL-Server database administration,
have strong project management experience and good oral/written communication skills.



Skills/Experience:



·


Hardware/Operating Systems/Software: IBM Regatta, SUN Solaris, Win2000, Win2003, EMC, AIX, BMC Patrol and TSM

·


RDBMS: UDB V8/UNIX, SQL Server

·


Proven experience with: UDB/UNIX, UDB DPF, Replication, SQL Server, BMC Patrol, BMC SmartDBA, BMC Recovery Manager, UNIX, Win2000, Shell script.

·


Proficient in all tasks related to UDB development and production support tasks.

·


Supported versions must include UDB versions 8X and 9X with advanced features such as DPF, HADR, Replication and other high availability strategies.

·


A Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science or a related discipline

·


Installation and upgrades

Development support and ddl scripting

·


Production Support- On call rotation

·


Monitoring

·


Backup and Recovery

·


Documentation

·


5+ years of experience with relational databases

·


Strong knowledge of distributed database concepts and design

·


Large database development experience in UDB and SQL Server environments

·


Strong performance tuning and trouble-shooting skills

·


Extensive work experience in information technology and diverse technological environments data and process analysis and modeling, logical database design, physical database design and implementation

·


Understanding of n-tier architecture, cluster and database connectivity issues in a client/server environment
