Assignment Capsule
As a Technology applications consultant you will: develop an understanding of Humana's business needs and translate those needs into technological systems, design specifications and solutions. You will partner with other associates to analyze, design, develop, implement and integrate moderate and complex business systems that will optimize business outcomes.

  • Provide development and ongoing software support and issue resolution
  • Build and implement technology solutions in support of medical claims processing business needs
  • Partner with other business areas within Humana to understand application requirements and develop programming specifications for development staff
  • Adhere to Humana project methodologies and documentation requirements for project implementations and audit compliance
  • Develop enhancements, resolve issues, coordinate testing within releases and oversee regular production efforts.

Role Essentials
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience
  • Proven project leadership skills and mainframe technical skills
  • Experience in the areas of software development and support
  • Development experience using mainframe CICS COBOL, Batch COBOL, Batch JCL, VSAM file structures and DB2 databases
  • Comprehensive understanding of SDLC


Role Desirables
  • Knowledge in medical claims processing, 835 and 837 X12 transaction processing and overall HIPAA standards and transaction sets
  • Understanding of clearinghouse processes and their relationships with medical providers


Reporting Relationships
  • You will report to a Technology Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Operating Officer.
