Description
Pointe Technology Group is currently searching for a Mainframe Print Engineer to work on site with our client, Social Security Administration, in Woodlawn, MD. This is a multi-year contract with a competitive annual salary and benefits. All employees subject to criminal/credit background check along with drug screening.

Skill requirements
The candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of specific experience with IBM mainframe (z/OS) print services in a Wide-Area Network setting. Ideally, this experience would include printing from a number of different sources (various platforms and operating systems), with emphasis on z/OS. The position requires z/OS Systems Programming experience including JES3 spooling, Advanced Function Print (AFP), variable data printing, secure print services, WAN-based PCL printers, and Output management Services.

The candidate must possess a strong background in implementing mainframe print architectures based on SNA and TCP/IP network communications using Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM) and VTAM Printer Support (VPS) concepts. Broad knowledge and experience with industry standard print distribution and output management tools such as LRS VPS/DRS, Adobe Livecycle, HP middleware, CA-spool, etc., and best practices and methodologies for the same are required. Prior experience with use of products and design of architectures for print stream conversion from AFP to PDF/PCL and print stream routing from SNA to TCP/IP networks is a must.

Experience with mainframe printing logistics including mainframe character printing, mainframe formatted IP printing, and PCOM print mechanisms (mainframe print emulation). Familiarity with High-Level Assembler (HLA), IBM DB2 and CICS is essential.

The candidate must have experience with full life-cycle systems engineering methodologies including Concept of Operations, Requirements Analysis, conducting trade studies, performing make-buy analyses and developing formal recommendations, design and implementation of enterprise architectures.

Must be able to navigate in a Windows workstation setting, and have good knowledge of the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical. Candidate must be able to effectively interact with all levels of customer staff, and be able to flourish in a government contract setting.

Candidate should be able to adapt to a changing environment.

Additional skills
The ability to provide leadership to a team of 6-8 people, and mentor junior staff members, are greatly beneficial.

Experience with Government Contracts is a plus.

Education
An undergraduate degree (BA/BS) from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology or a computer related field, or equivalent work experience.

Technical certifications and/or completion of relevant technical courses a plus.
