Immediate need for a Programmer with GIS or IMS experience seeking a career opportunity, flexibility in their work schedule and a more time off than most companies offer giving more of an opportunity for proper work/life balance. Experience with the latest and most significant programming languages and GIS or IMS applications, a Bachelor's degree related to Computer Sciences and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of "real world" experience will be your keys to success with this growing, prestigious organization that is one of the oldest companies in the State of California. Will be responsible for converting data from project specifications and statements of problems and procedures to create or modify computer programs; preparing or receiving from Systems Analyst detailed workflow chart and diagram to illustrate sequence of steps that program must follow and to describe input, output, and logical operations involved; analyzing workflow chart and maps, applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic; confering with supervisor and representatives of GIS Department concerned with program to resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls; converting detailed logical flow chart to language processable by computer; entering program codes into computer system. Will also be responsible for inputting test data into computer; observing computer monitor screen to interpret program operating codes; correcting program errors, using methods such as modifying program or altering sequence of program steps; writing instructions to guide operating personnel during production runs; analyzing, reviewing, and rewriting programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt program to new requirements; compiling and writing documentation of program development and subsequent revisions. In this position, you may train workers to use programs, assist Computer Operators in resolving problems in running computer program and working with Systems Analyst to obtain and analyze project specifications and flow charts; may also direct and coordinate work of others to write, test, and modify computer programs.
