Description
Project ManagerLocation: San Diego, CAJob Description: Responsible for managing the scope, budget, schedule and resources of IT projects. The Project Manager (PM) position reports to IT Director of PMO and is the primary point of contact between the various business units, consulting firms, and Technical staff for all project related communications. This position provides the required oversight for planning, staffing, negotiation for resources, execution, and control of Corporate IT projects. The PM position works with Business Sponsors, Subject Matter Experts, Business Analysts, Developers, Quality Assurance, vendors, technical staff, and Training to ensure IT projects are completed within the required scope and meet the required schedule and budget. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Defines, plans, organizes, staffs, executes, manages, monitors, controls, communicates and reports on all aspects of assigned projects, programs and initiatives to ensure rapid, effective and efficient delivery and total client satisfaction. * Assists in development, maintenance and support of Project Management tools and methods to ensure quick, focused and effective project deployment. * Works with business units (clients) to define project goals, objectives, scope, approach, timeline and budget. * Uses MS Project (or a similar tool) to create and maintain a detailed project work breakdown structure (WBS). * Defines, builds and manages project budgets and forecasts; conducts project budget reviews and reforecasts monthly. * Identifies and procures appropriate resources for each project. * Manages resources to project work plan and budget. * Reports activity, issues, risks, budget / schedule variances in a timely manner to Management and Project Sponsorship.* Applies change control management to all projects.* Assists in establishing and enforcing project quality policies, standards, and regulations. * Applies quality criteria for projects and project deliverables. * Identifies and adheres to project quality gates. * Implements and abides by procedures for customer acceptance of project deliverables. * Mentors and guides junior Project Managers and Project Teams. * Provides input and support to development of Project Management tools and methods. * Takes on special projects as requested. KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION & SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential task satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* Bachelor's degree required. * Five plus years of experience managing projects. * Seven plus years participating on project teams. * Five plus years experience applying Project Management Methodologies and developing project documentation for planning, executing, controlling and implementing structured projects. * Experience managing project teams consisting of up to thirty (30) people from all parts of the organization, including contract staff. * Ability to communicate to individuals at all levels of the organization including entry level staff to Senior Executives. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Excellent organizational skills. * Advanced skills in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint. * Advanced skills with MS Project or similar tools. * PMI Certification required. * Proficiency in Visio a plus.df-tc
