We are seeking candidates to fill the following position for our Kentucky Student Information System (KSIS) project.


The Kentucky Department of Education is pursuing a multi-year, long-term project manager to implement the Infinite Campus student information system in KDE and 176 local school districts and 1,426 schools. KDE has need of a highly skilled project leader to guide and support the KSIS implementation.

Project manager will follow all project management procedures established for KDE IT-enabled business projects including scope management, issues management, risk management, communications management, etc. The individual will manage the process by which project priorities are established by the KSIS project sponsor and steering committee; manage the resolution of project problems and conflicts, escalating when necessary to the project sponsor; work with the product manager to act as the communication focal point particularly with the project sponsor, districts and steering committee.

Experience/Skills
The key requirement for a contract project manager is experience in successfully managing medium to large software projects that include teams of 10 or more and have a mandated implementation date. This person must also be able to juggle multiple priorities because he/she will be managing multiple projects in an always changing environment. Holding the PMP certification is a plus, but not a requirement.

The project managers must be able to quickly jump into project management with minimal =E2=80=98start up=E2=80=99 and be able to follow the COT project process. Need to be able to =E2=80=98hit the ground running.=E2=80=99 These project managers will most likely each be working on 2 or more IT software projects.

One of each of their projects will be part of a large initiative that initially includes 4 separate projects within a program. These projects will consume about =C2=BD of their time for the first few months. The initiative will increase in size and numbers of projects before it is completed in the next 2 1/2 to 3 years.

Duration of this project may extend up to and beyond December 31, 2008. Some travel to local schools, districts and off-site meetings with KDE and Infinite Campus may be required.
