Director, Quality Assurance Testing

Responsibilities
- Define overall testing strategy and processes that are adequate to properly test all products, both new and existing. Determine weaknesses and inefficiencies in existing testing processes and drive improvement. Ensure that test practices follow industry best practices and present the most efficient, effective approach.
- Establish a testing automation strategy, and develop and maintain automated testing procedures that minimize the amount of time and effort necessary to verify platforms during routine code moves, non-routine outages, and testing of new product and client development.
- Consult with sales, product management, technology and professional services to plan project engagements and timelines, and estimate testing effort.
- Establish consultative culture for various projects that fall within the QA domain.
- Assess general project requirements and work with team to determine appropriate test strategy and design.
- Closely collaborate with product, technology and other teams to ensure that test strategies and scripts are detailed and robust, and that timelines are being met. Participate in management activities, meetings and planning to ensure that division and company goals are being met and the testing team-s perspective is represented.
- Define vision for QA and drive quality initiatives across all client teams. Promote overall quality goals and achievements across the company and educate team members on QA initiatives.
- Proactively monitor team performance and intercede where necessary to improve quality and guarantee timely delivery.
- Provide technical, product and career mentoring to members of the QA team.
- Identify hiring needs and coordinate hiring efforts. Define specific criteria for each position on the team as well as screening procedures and questions to ensure that employees meet and exceed minimum job requirements.
- Perform periodic reviews of testing work to ensure that it is performed in a detailed, thorough manner and is consistent with internal standards.
- Ensure that test script and code management practices are effective, well documented, and backed up.
- Ensure adequate staffing and support during production moves and during on-call events.
- Provide technical project overviews to clients, new employees, management, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate and lead team meetings to ensure that team members stay abreast of company, departmental, product, platform, and industry developments.
- Analyze testing tools and techniques to determine efficiency and effectiveness in approach.

Skills/Attributes
- Knowledge of high volume, server-based technology transaction processing platforms
- Advanced SQL skills (Sybase and Oracle preferred, variety of query tools preferred)

- Server-based platform test automation (combination of commercial and open source tools experience preferred)

Experience
- Bachelor-s degree required
- Combination of 10 years software development, testing, and/or analysis experience

- Technical project management, business analyst, and/or OO platform development experience preferred
- Financial services experience preferreddf-tc
