DreamWorks SKG currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network/Systems Engineer in Glendale, CA.

DESCRIPTION

The Senior Network/Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and administration of a large-scale production network topology, consisting of local area, wide area and virtual private networks.

The Senior Network/Systems Engineer is responsible for network and network services design and implementation. The position is also responsible the daily operations, support and administration of these networks and services. Candidate will work closely with other members of the information technology staff, software engineers, executives, and other contributors. General areas of responsibilities include network and systems engineering, administration support, tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring and fault detection, and scripting. Senior engineers are expected to develop best practices, operational procedures and design documentation.

Senior engineers are also regularly expected to evaluate new hardware and software technologies, and to present analysis and purchase recommendations to the administration team and to management.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
. Engineers the support and maintenance of large-scale production networks and systems, including the design and development of tools and scripts to assist with such maintenance.

. Integrates and/or consolidates services between different business units and technologies, including the design and development of the necessary integration tools.

. Designs and supports high-performance of network topologies in local, metropolitan, and wide areas.

. Designs, integrates, and maintains network services such as DNS, DHCP, SMB, SNMP, Radius, Kerberos, electronic mail, LDAP directories, and IPSEC virtual private networks.

. Designs and develops high-performance groups of servers for resource-intensive network applications.

. Designs archive and backup systems for entire animation production. Works closely with technical staff to insure that backup and archiving designs and procedures are implemented properly.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of TCP/IP, NFS, LDAP, DHCP, SMB, SNMP, etc.
. A solid understanding of UNIX-based operating systems, including knowledge of kernel and network services is highly desirable, as is experience with network-attached storage devices such as Network Appliance Filers.
. Experience with administration in a heterogeneous Windows/UNIX/Linux environment is essential. Ability to write scripts using shell or Perl required.
. Strong inter-personal and communication skills are essential.
. A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field is desirable; however, the successful candidate will demonstrate his/her ability with at least 5 -7 years of network engineering and systems administration experience in a large production environment.
. This is a SAGE level 3/4 position.
