Solutions Delivery Consultant - Rapid Response Team

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a software development position whose central focus is to conduct maintenance, defect resolution, and upgrade activities on customizations of Qpass Prosperity Series Software for clients.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Works with Partner Support Team, Quality Services Team, Technical Operations team to identify, triage, research and resolve defects in a very rapid manner.
. Develop an understanding of the Customer?s business applications. Recover requirements, esp. in use case format, where necessary.
. Lead maintenance projects, such as system upgrades or improvements leading to improved organizational efficiency.
. Troubleshoot defects in complex J2EE implementation (with some legacy Windows applications).
. Define, document, and track metrics for full service defect management, including estimation, planning, status reporting, and issue management.
. Provide project management and technical guidance to direct reports.
. Work with Product Organization?s maintenance team to resolve interdependencies and conflicting work assignments.
. Hand off well-executed defect fixes and project deliverables to Operations and Partner Support for full account management.
. Define, document, and develop/select processes and technologies for improvements of quality-driven software development on Solutions Delivery team. Examples of potential improvements: standards for unit test coverage, improvements to automated unit test framework, etc.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Contribute to the overall success of the Solutions Delivery team.
. Provide input into improvements of Qpass Prosperity Series, particularly those that represent the ?developer community.?
. Assist Partner Support Team and Operations in resolving configuration and support technical issues.
. Perform other projects/assignments as assigned by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
. Market-leading trouble-shooting skills in all aspects of enterprise linux/J2EE systems, including tomcat, apache, Weblogic, Oracle, performance issues, etc. Where knowledge is lacking, never uses ?I don?t understand? as an excuse: instead, drives to understand in a quest to resolve issues in a rapid manner.
. Takes personal ownership of problems and software, including those not caused by oneself.
. Customer relationship management experience. Proven relationship building skills, intense customer focus, and expectation management. Experience talking with customers about defect root causes and actions taken to correct.
. Must have 3+ years of Object Oriented server-side development and Object Oriented Design.
. 2+ solid years of general server software development experience using the following technologies: Java, Servlets, JSPs, XML, and Junit.
. Experience with XSL required.
. Experience with SQL required.
. Experience with Unix platforms required, esp. Linux.
. Experience with J2EE, esp. EJBs, a strong plus.
. Experience with Struts a strong plus
. Experience with UML a strong plus.
. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
. Ability/initiative to define and evolve processes to ensure continuous improvement. Process-focused but not bureaucratic.
. Adaptable, able to acquire technical and business skills needed to integrate with and satisfy our diverse clients rapidly.
. Team player, esp. in a heavily cross-functional environment. Recognizes a problem as our problem, not their problem. Reaches out to others (esp. testers, operators) to establish a shared ownership of issues.

. Confident and polished. Demonstrated ability to make a client feel confident in our ability to get job done.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING:

Required
. Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
. Occasional travel.
