Description
Senior Consultant Location: Quantico, VA Responsibility: Assist the customer account team with strategic consulting at one of our US Marine Corps Headquarters organizations within the US. The ITAP Consultant will be responsible for assisting this customer primarily with their infrastructure platform in helping them to optimize and reduce costs on both the desktop and server, helping them to successfully execute their server consolidation strategy, helping them to build and maintain a highly secure environment, analyzing and making recommendations to leverage their AD environment (potentially eliminating other directories), and helping them to put a 3-5 year technology roadmap in place and execute against that road map. This role will interact with CxO levels down through technology decision makers, technology managers and technologists thus requiring a broad set of communication styles to service this broad audience. Local Market Business Considerations: The ITAP Consultant role is a very important role within MCS as it is designed to perform Information Technology Architecture and Planning Services for Microsoft's largest and most strategic customers. ITAP Consultants are viewed as strategic consultants, enterprise architects and should be organizationally and politically savvy individuals. As such, they are dedicated to one customer and typically spend 2-5 years in the ITAP role for these customers. ITAPs are held accountable for maintaining a high degree of information coordination between the customer and MCS, Sales, and Premier resources. The ITAP consultant is a strategic member of the core account team and as such is tasked with coordinating resources from within Microsoft and our Partners to be applied as needed. ITAP Consultants are measured on their ability to perform the core IT Architecture & Planning Services: Enterprise Architecture Planning, Enterprise Services Assessments, Pilot Planning and Project Management QA, Application Technology Reviews, IT strategy & Planning workshops, Microsoft Product & Technology Assessment & License Review, and IT advisor/TCO/REJ Workshops. Additionally, the ITAP Consultant will provide value proposition to the customer including, but not limited to: facilitating communication between the customer and Microsoft product and services groups, providing the customer with strategic information on Microsoft products and technologies, ongoing Strategy and Planning assistance, facilitation participation in RDP, Early Adopter and Beta programs, and assisting in the creation of the overall account plan with Sales and PSS through the use of Enterprise Architecture Planning, achieving a high level of client satisfaction, and effectiveness in developing long term business and technical relationships with Enterprise Architecture decision makers in the account. Also required are strong technical writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customer managers and executives on technical and business issues. Strong organizational, time management, project management, and negotiation skills are necessary. The position may require weekly travel to customer site.
