Description
Sr. Database Engineer / Software Developer
This position is responsible for database programming and architecture, including logical design, physical design, performance tuning, database documentation, and stored procedure development. This position will assist software engineers in developing the data access layer (SQL embedded in Java and C#) of company's applications.
Keep in mind this is not a pure DBA position although some of those skill would be useful. Also the hire should have some leadership skills.
Responsibilities
m Lead logical and physical database design
m Lead development of stored procedures and database schema, in support of company software applications
m Document databases, including data model diagrams and data dictionary
m Mentor software engineers on coding of SQL in Java and C# data access layer
m Mentor junior software engineers in database programming and design

Basic Qualifications:

m At least 6 years experience in database design and programming
m At least 3 years experience as a software developer
m Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field

Required Skills:
m Expertise in relational database, SQL, and stored procedure languages
m Expertise in database design for operational systems, including normalization and denormalization principles
m Experience with databases with high availability requirements, high transaction volumes, and many concurrent users.
m Familiarity with object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, C++, or C#
m Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
