Position Description;

Our team offers a web service called the Conference Management Toolkit (CMT) for automating the workflow of academic conferences. CMT was first developed in 1999 and has since then been used in over several conferences. In 2006, a new version of CMT was released, and is being extensively used by the academic community.


This position is for providing technical support for the CMT service. Key aspects of support include: responding to customer requests/questions in a timely manner, setting up new conferences, performing customized tasks when customers cannot do it themselves, updating FAQs, recording customer issues in the bug tracking database along with dumps of the application as appropriate, and verifying bug fixes and closing out bugs. Acts as primary response for technical support. Provides entry level support primarily for end users, along with developers and corporate customers via telephone, written correspondence, and electronic media. Provides support for more complex products under general supervision. Communicates with customers who possess a wide range of skill levels. At a peer level, communicates problems to development and other internal organizations.

Qualifications:

-1 year related work experience required. Solid understanding of standard computer science concepts required.

-Excellent customer service skills, strong communication, problem solving, and technical writing skills required.

-Must have general technical understanding of product area but is not required to have in depth technical knowledge in specific products.

-Must have sufficient technical depth to communicate with development and other internal organizations at a peer level.

-Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

-Ability to repro customer problem and file bug with relevant information is important.

-Familiarity with technologies such as ASP.NET, IIS, SQL and XML preferred.

-Will be required to file bugs with relevant information to the bug tracking database.

-Will be required to add documentation of functionality, extend FAQ and help for CMT.

-Working knowledge of personal computer architecture and relevant operating systems, applications, and/or languages is preferred.
