Description
Join this local client's team with this exciting new position. This person will be responsible for maintaining their internal software and LIMS software on their Intel-based Hardware. Will be responsible for installing, testing and modifying computer software: operating systems, application software, utilities and other third party software. Will evaluate and make recommendations on hardware and software upgrades. Will plan and implement changes to the hardware and software environment in coordination with Computer Operations and Application Development. Other responsibilities include maintaining the overall technical environment and the computer/system performance and capacity. Will work with Computer Operations and Business Systems Group on the development and maintenance of Backup and Recovery and emergency restart procedures. Will also work with Computer Operations and the Business Systems Group on the development and maintenance of the Disaster/Recovery Plan. Other responsibilities include assisting with problem identification and resolution; investigating new utilities, development and end user tools; training the appropriate staff on the use of utilities and development tools; work with software vendors on problem resolution; and manage the synchronization of Pivotal data between servers and mobile user's laptops. This position will also be responsible for data security to include monitoring, evaluating, maintaining systems and procedures to protect systems and databases from unauthorized use. This person will identify potential threats and respond to reported security violations. Will determine causes of security violation and recommend corrective actions. Will research, recommend and implement changes to enhance data systems security.

Experience/Skills
Must have: Intel-based hardware and Microsoft software. Experience with Hardware and Software upgrades, operating systems, compilers, utilities, networks, routers and network protocols. Any experience with Open Text Technologies would be a plus. SQL server experience is a must also.
