Description
.Set up and maintain all server hardware and software as assigned
Maintain and administer user accounts according to procedures
Provide SQL server backup and recovery according to procedures, to prevent the loss of important information stored on the server

Provide basic system administration SQL server scripting

Monitor and maintain maximum system performance levels
Monitor system capacity making appropriate recommendations to management on hardware/software upgrades or additions
Coordinate with Help Desk in providing support on server/LAN issues
Perform other specific System Administration duties as defined in Working Practices
Manage and secure user accounts
Monitor tuning system performance, storage management, system security, print mangement, capacity management and network connectivity

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related area (Preferred)
Vendor tool certifications(Preferred) MCSE, MCDBA
Two - five years experience in systems administration supporting a networked server environment
Experience with the following server environments or systems software in a systems administration capacity: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 & 2005, Microsoft Windows 2000 & 2003 Server


Or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provide the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Client focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
Able to multi task and pay close attention to detail
Working knowledge with systems in use at PPD (Preferred)
