Description
Our Edina client is seeking a Systems Administrator for a full time position. This position will install and maintain operating system, system management and third party application software as well as monitor system operation and diagnose and correct problems to ensure maximum utilization of equipment and systems. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:•Install and maintain Linux/Unix and other installed operating system software on applicable platforms.•Install, upgrade, and maintain enterprise storage solutions.•Install and maintain third party application and system management software including Nagios, Tivoli, and AcuCobol software products and environments.•Regularly monitor systems for potential problems to ensure optimal performance.•Provide timely problem determination and resolution and perform emergency maintenance as required.•Generate and maintain backup tapes and retrieve data when appropriate.•Generate and distribute reports pertaining to assigned responsibilities.•Assist with researching and evaluating issues pertaining to equipment performance.•Initiate or assist in the development of scripts, procedures, programs or documentation to improve the operational environment.•Regularly evaluate processes and make recommendations to improve efficiency.•Act in accordance with departmental privacy and security policies and procedures.•Comply with all corporate and departmental policies/procedures and applicable governmental regulations. •Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.•Attend and participate in meetings that pertain to assigned responsibilities.OCCASIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:•Participate in the Duty Officer Program.•Provide support outside normal business hours.•Actively participate in the establishment and maintenance of quality improvement activities.•Develop and support customer focused I.T. standards, procedures and service level objectives ensuring that systems and processes are consistent, accurate, efficient and timely.•Actively participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing to ensure that in the event of a disaster, all applications can be restored to fulfill client and business contracts and objectives.•Provide technical support and training to end-users.•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.If interested and qualified, please submit your resume to kathy.engen@rht.com.df-tc

Experience/Skills
EDUCATIONAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:•High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.•Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.•Two or more years of system administration experience required with a strong knowledge of operating systems (Red Hat Linux or Unix), DBMS/RDBMS (Oracle), and systems management (Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas NetBackup, NetSaint/Nagios) software required.•Knowledge of system and network management tools required.•Knowledge of MS Office is required •Programming experience is helpful.•Scripting ability is preferred.•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and solve problems in a timely and accurate manner. •Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously.•Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with management, staff and customers as well as demonstrate sound judgement/reasoning skills.•Must be able to work independently and possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
