Description
Design and Implementation Engineer: The successful candidate will be responsible for design, deployment, support, and documentation of business specific server-based applications. The job requires solid analysis and problem solving skills, experience with multiplatform environments, and the ability to foresee/understand enterprise related dependencies. Experience with both enterprise wide and specialty applications in a large highly distributed organization is also important in this position. The qualified engineer must have years of hands on experience and a broad range of technical skills, largely related to SUN, IBM AIX, and HP-UX platforms. Candidate must be able to handle in-depth involvement in multiple projects in a high paced environment, while maintaining stringent standards of quality. Solid oral and written communication skills are required, and big picture design abilities are highly desirable.

Duties: -Develop, publish and maintain written policy and standards that directly affect projects you are responsible for. -Research and develop workable solutions based on enterprise and/or project requirements. Make objective project recommendations based on business unit or infrastructure requirements and needs. Work with other technical resources within the organization to build a solid foundation for the design and support of application servers and surrounding infrastructure. -Participate in meetings with business owners and external vendors to determine, define, and document project needs and requirements, while maintaining and adhering to company standards and procedures. -Provide third level operational support for hardware and operating systems. -Exemplify teamwork in accomplishing company goals.

Experience/Skills
Skills Required:
1) Solid understanding of the HP/UX, Sun Solaris, AND AIX operating systems and associated hardware. Candidate MUST to be able to make recommendations on migration from all 3 platforms to all 3 platforms.
2) Experience with clustering using Veritas (REQUIRED),
3) Experience with virtualization via partition - candidate must be able to compare and contrast the virtualization offerings from each vendor (HP-nPar, vpar, IBM-lpar, SUN-domains, containers) and present a recommendation. Candidate MUST have extensive experience with partitioning on at least 1 platform or a moderate level of experience with at least 2.
4) HP Serviceguard (nice to have
5) IBM HACMP (nice to have).
