Description
The primary responsibilities of the Tivoli Engineer are provide information technology monitoring, detection and automation solutions to the client Technology Enterprise Technology Operations Organization, Enterprise Technology Development Organization and client Lines of Business using the monitoring and detection tool set supported by the Alert Services Division. Alert Services utilizes the IBM Tivoli suite of products to provide these solutions. Those products include, ITM 5.1, ITM 6.1, ITCAM for Rt, ITCAM for WAS, NetCool Omnibus, NetCool RAD (now TBSM V4), Omegamon/XE and z/OS System Automation
- Secondary responsibilities will include providing the technical support to install, maintain and provide ongoing support for these products.
- Providing consultation with Alert Services Clients (Enterprise Operations Center, Lines of Business Application Support Owners, Lines of Businesses) to design and implement holistic monitoring and detection solutions utilizing the Alert Services Supported tools.
- Gathering requirements, designing and implementing Alerts.
- Gathering requirements, designing and implementing automated resolution responses to alerts.
- Participating as a resource on multiple concurrent Key Technology Services Projects to provide Alert Services solutions.
- Gathering requirements, designing and implementing presentation views.
- Technical owner for projects driven by Alert Services.
- Defining and documenting Alert Services Administrative Policies and Processes.
- Mentoring and providing direction to junior staff.
- Participating on the on call rotation.
- Monitoring, resolving and bringing to closure open problems on the problem queue.
- Developing and providing presentations.

In order to be considered for employment, the qualified candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Good working knowledge of the disciplines and techniques used for the creation, processing, management and presentation of alerts.
- Installing, customizing, supporting and providing user solutions with tools used for the creation, processing, management and presentation of alerts, (i.e. monitoring/detection, alert correlation, synthetic transactions, graphical presentations and reporting).
- Good understanding of complex composite application architectures utilizing many technology disciplines. for the purpose of assisting in the design and implementation of alert services- solutions.
- Working experience with one or more of IBM Tivoli Products:
o NetCool Omnibus, Impact and/or RAD (now TBSM 4.1).
o ITM 6.1.
o ITM 5.1.
o ITCAM Products (ITCAM for WAS, ITCAM for Rt, ITCAM for SOA, etc.).
o z/OS Systems Automation
- Overall good understanding of IT infrastructure technologies such as Operating systems, database managers, transactional processing, collaboration, message delivery, network, etc. used in support of business applicants.

It would be considered a plus if the candidate had:
- Experience at writing scripts (Perl scripts, Java applets, sql. etc.).
- Working experience creating synthetic transactions for application monitoring.
- Working experience creating applications dashboards.
- Good knowledge of the industry trends relative to the tools and techniques for proving Alert Services solutions.
