Description
Pointe Technology Group is currently searching for a Windows Print Engineer to work on site with our client, Social Security Administration, in Woodlawn, MD. This is a multi-year contract with a competitive annual salary and benefits. All employees subject to criminal/credit background check along with drug screening.

Skill requirements
The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of specific experience with the design, integration, operations, and support of complex network and print environments on Microsoft Windows platform. Candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of distributed computing architectures and network software.

The candidate should possess prior knowledge of interfacing LAN-based print environments with the IBM mainframe network (SNA-based). Exposure in this regard with respect to Microsoft Host Integration servers (HIS) or other similar products/tools is required.

The position requires expert knowledge of the Microsoft Windows 2003 OS and print servers, Active Directory, and experience with security, logging and auditing, tuning and monitoring MS 2003 print servers for optimal performance. Prior experience with tools and techniques for handling web-browser based printing including tools, scripts, etc. is required. Knowledge of MS Windows internals, driver architecture and experience with print driver development is desirable.

The candidate should possess a good understanding of various print formats such as PCL, PDF, etc., and knowledge of industry standard COTS tools for print format conversions i.e. AFP to PDF, HTML, MS Word to PDF/PostScript, Mainframe character data to PDF etc .

The candidate must have experience with full life-cycle systems engineering methodologies including Concept of Operations, Requirements Analysis, conducting trade studies, performing make-buy analyses and developing formal recommendations, design and implementation of enterprise architectures.

The candidate must have experience with HP PCL, print translation to PCL streams and WAN-based PCL printers.
Candidate will have the ability to investigate and resolve operational problems in cooperation with other engineering and technical personnel.

Must be able to navigate in a Windows workstation setting, and have good knowledge of the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical. Candidate must be able to effectively interact with all levels of customer staff, and be able to flourish in a government contract setting.

Candidate should be able to adapt to a changing environment.

Additional skills
The ability to provide leadership to a team of 6-8 people, and mentor junior staff members, are greatly beneficial.

Experience with Government Contracts is a plus.

Education
An undergraduate degree (BA/BS) from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology or a computer related field, or equivalent work experience.

Technical certifications and/or completion of relevant technical courses a plus.
