Description
Our client is major retail organization who is in search of an iSeries (AS/400) Engineer for a full-time, direct-placement opportunity. Selected candidate will be responsible for day-to-day efficient running and support of the global iSeries environment including maintaining all iSeries hardware and Operating Systems, including but not limited to supporting all iSeries hardware upgrades, OS upgrades, system peripheral software installations/upgrades, system configurations, iSeries and application security for the production and development applications.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

--> Maintains the iSeries Operating System and system hardware, including reviewing / installing System PTFs and Operating System upgrades.
--> Monitors the system environment to minimize customer-impacting situations and eliminates recurrent issues.
--> Maintains the iSeries based application software, such as ERP and financial software.
--> Performs system tuning and work management functions.
--> Reviews iSeries security policies and procedures for the Operating System and third party software to help ensure a secure environment. Provide strict compliance with company security policies including building group profiles and supplemental groups to ensure the iSeries clean and reliable while easing the maintenance of object level security.
--> Develops standards for all iSeries platforms and partitions.
--> Manages, reviews and makes recommendations on attached iSeries peripheral hardware including managing and maintaining associated documentation.
--> Participates in MIMIX high availability role swaps and supports iSeries High Availability Specialist with upgrades, mirror groups and assists in solving any issues encountered in the HA solution.
--> Ensures licensing compliance for the Operating System, license products and third party software.
--> Assists Data Center Operations when necessary with production processing including managing associated documentation and assisting Programming Team when necessary with development and production environment tasks.
--> Maintains existing controls to ensure compliance with global IT standards, corporate policies, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other regulations.

Experience/Skills
--> 5+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a large, iSeries, multi-partitioned, high availability environment
--> Experience with capacity planning, sizing, back-up and recovery
--> Experience with iSeries Client Access and iSeries TCP/IP configuration
--> Experience with LPAR
--> Knowledge of CL programming
--> Knowledge of ROBOT/Schedule or other job scheduler programs
--> Must have strong documentation skills
--> Must have good office/clerical skills including database, word processing and spreadsheets
--> Associate=E2=80=99s Degree in a related field

PLUSES INCLUDE:

--> AS/400 Associate System Operator, AS/400 Professional System Operator or AS/400 System Administrator certification a plus
--> Lawson experience on the iSeries is a plus
--> Websphere experience is a plus
--> Lotus Domino on the iSeries is a plus
